Samsung SDS Achieves Korea’s First RISE with SAP Premium Supplier-Based Cloud ERP Migration, Completing Next-Generation ERP Implementation for Samsung Electro-Mechanics
□ Samsung Electro-Mechanics becomes first in Korea to achieve RISE with SAP Premium Supplier-based cloud ERP migration
- Samsung SDS demonstrates approximately 30 years of ERP consulting, implementation, and operation capabilities
- Applied ‘Downtime-Optimized Conversion’ for the first time in Korea, while maintaining business continuity during system transition
□ Accelerating cloud ERP migration business in earnest
- Speeding up market expansion by signing contracts with numerous clients in the service and retail sectors
- Expanding business across diverse industries, including manufacturing, service, retail, finance, public, and defense sectors, among others
Samsung SDS has successfully completed the next-generation Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for Samsung Electro-Mechanics.
It is the first project that leverages the ‘RISE with SAP Premium Supplier’ status, which Samsung SDS earned in September 2025.
□ Applied ‘Downtime-Optimized Conversion’ Technology for the First Time in Korea, Ensuring Business Continuity
For this project, Samsung SDS applied ‘Downtime-Optimized Conversion’ technology to maintain business continuity even while transferring large-scale data.
This technology drastically reduces downtime by allowing data transfer and system conversion while systems are still in operation.
Indeed, the project team dramatically reduced downtime by more than 76%, from 140 hours (5.8 days) down to 34 hours (1.4 days) when migrating an 8.5 TB database (SAP HANA database).
□ Achieved System Performance and Data Optimization for Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Improving Work Efficiency by over 25%
The introduction of the next-generation ERP system has significantly increased Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ IT efficiency and data processing performance.
Through Data Volume Management (DVM) technology, the project team reduced the SAP HANA database capacity by approximately 35%, from 8.5 TB to 5.5 TB, lowering system load while enhancing management efficiency.
Additionally, improved performance in key systems -- such as manufacturing, finance, and costing -- enhanced work efficiency by more than 25%, enabling rapid decision-making.
□ Full-Scale Push into Cloud ERP Migration Business, Signing Project Contracts and Implementing Projects in the Service and Retail Sectors
Samsung SDS is accelerating its Samsung Cloud Platform (SCP)-based cloud ERP migration business by leveraging its 30-plus years of ERP consulting, implementation and operations capabilities.
Samsung SDS is speeding up its market expansion by undertaking cloud ERP migration projects for clients in the service and retail sectors, as well as for Samsung Electro-Mechanics.
Jun-ho Park, Leader of the MIS Group at Samsung Electro-Mechanics said, “By moving away from existing methods, this project prioritized process integration and standardization and applied them across the company to drastically reduce implementation time and costs. Notably, this marks the first case in Korea in which dispersed key data from ERP, Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Supply Chain Management (SCM) were integrated into a single Business Warehouse (BW) database, enabling real-time analysis.”
Hae-goo Song, Executive Vice President and Leader of the Solution Business Division at Samsung SDS said, “This project is a meaningful achievement as it marks the first successful completion of a RISE with SAP Premium Supplier-based cloud ERP migration in Korea, and is the first among Samsung affiliates to do so. We are the only service provider in Korea capable of delivering end-to-end ERP services, covering consulting, implementation, operations, and cloud infrastructure. We will lead cloud ERP migrations across diverse industries, including finance, public, and defense sectors, in addition to manufacturing, service and retail, while continuously expanding our business.”
