On February 6, 2018 the Samsung SDS invited the executives of the Samsung SDS, including the CEO of the Samsung SDS Hong Won-Pyo, to the groundbreaking ceremony for the Chuncheon Data Center.

The Chuncheon Data Center will be the world’s leading energy efficient data center and is planned to be completed by the second half of next year. It will be built on a 39,780㎡ site, 5.5 times the size of a soccer field, towering two stories high.

The Chuncheon Data Center will not only enhance the financial services but also acts as a cloud data center for services that requires high efficiency such as AI and Big Data.

With its completion, the Chuncheon Data Center will strengthen not only the domestic data centers but also enhance the original over seas data centers such as the ones located in the US, Germany, India, and Brazil, giving Samsung SDS an upper hand.

The Chuncheon Data Center will be operated by a Software Defined Data Center, a next-generation data center technology that automates integration and management by virtualizing IT resources such as servers, storage, and networks.

The Samsung SDS has been continuously developing its cloud business by acquiring the cutting-edge cloud technologies through strategic alliances with leading companies such as Amazon, Microsoft, Oracle, Virtustream, and Spotinst.
