Samsung SDS Officially Launches Korean NPU-Based NPUaaS

□ Commercializing NPUaaS, powered by FuriosaAI's RNGD, on Samsung Cloud Platform (SCP)
□ Expected to serve as a turning point in expanding Korean NPU-based AI infrastructure and building sovereign AI

Samsung SDS announced the launch of NPUaaS(NPU as a Service) powered by FuriosaAI’s second-generation NPU, RNGD(pronounced “Renegade”), on the Samsung Cloud Platform(SCP).

RNGD is a Korean NPU specialized for AI inference. Compared with GPUs, RNGD delivers outstanding power efficiency and cost-effectiveness when running trained AI models in real-world services for tasks such as answer generation, document analysis, and image recognition.

Samsung SDS’s NPUaaS customers can use the service on a subscription basis via SCP without having to directly purchase an NPU server or build it into their own data centers. They can also freely select the number of NPUs needed -- one, two, four, or eight -- depending on their demand and data size. Businesses ranging from startups to large enterprises can use NPUaaS based on the AI service scale they require.

Additionally, NPUaaS has the flexibility to be combined with other SCP services, such as high-performance storage, compute, and high-speed networks.

Notably, by providing NPUaaS in SCP's sovereign cloud environment, Samsung SDS will enable public-sector customers who are subject to strict security regulations to use the service with confidence.

By launching NPUaaS, Samsung SDS expanded its service offerings to include NPU-based computing resources in addition to its existing GPUaaS. The company expects the launch to serve as a significant turning point in building sovereign AI and in expanding customers’ AI infrastructure options as well as the Korean NPU-based AI infrastructure.

Ho-joon Lee, Executive Vice President and Leader of the Cloud Service Business Division at Samsung SDS, said, “This NPUaaS launch is more than simply introducing a new cloud service. It enables customers to utilize high-performance AI technology more flexibly and more cost-effectively. We will further diversify SCP-based products to address customers’ needs and continue to lead the cloud AI ecosystem.”
