Samsung SDS hosted “Robotics Transformation Advancing Robotics Together (RX ART) 2026” in Mountain View, California, over two days from August 31 to September 1.
The event brought together executives and robotics business leaders from key Samsung affiliates to discuss opportunities for collaboration and develop joint initiatives for future implementation.
□ Sharing results of technology validation for industrial use cases and developing optimal deployment approaches
Samsung SDS collaborated with global physical AI companies, including Walden Robotics and RoboForce, to proactively assess the feasibility of robotics use cases for industrial sites identified jointly with Samsung affiliates, and shared the results at the event.
Notably, going beyond simple technology demonstrations, the companies collected data essential for AI training from tasks performed in real-world industrial environments and thoroughly validated the applicability of robots on site, in turn developing a concrete, optimized approach to deploying robots in actual operations.
First, Samsung SDS collaborated with Walden Robotics on the development of a general-purpose robot and validated its applicability for a range of manual tasks, such as parts handling and consumables replacement, at the manufacturing sites of Samsung Electro-Mechanics and SEMES.
Furthermore, Samsung SDS deployed RoboForce’s robust, physical AI-powered robo-labor technology for unstructured and rough outdoor industrial environments, such as the shipbuilding and plant sites of Samsung Heavy Industries and Samsung E&A, and confirmed the feasibility of robotic automation in these settings.
In addition, Samsung SDS integrated AI-powered dexterous manipulation technology developed by Company G, a robotics startup, into manufacturing and equipment environments requiring high-precision work, such as those at Samsung Display, thereby validating the potential for automating complex and intricate manufacturing processes.
Samsung SDS plans to rapidly translate the technological feasibility and optimal deployment approaches shared at RX ART 2026 into on-site testing and validation across relevant Samsung affiliates, while expanding the validated robotics use cases across a broader range of industrial applications. Building on these efforts, the company aims to move beyond the simple adoption of technologies to drive robotics transformation (RX) at industrial sites and deliver tangible outcomes.
Joseph Ahn, Executive Vice President of the Digital Factory Business Unit at Samsung SDS, said, “This year’s RX ART provided a valuable opportunity for Samsung affiliates with diverse manufacturing environments to jointly explore robotics technologies and share ideas and challenges.” He added, “Samsung SDS will continue to expand strategic partnerships with leading global physical AI robotics companies and actively support robotics transformation across the manufacturing sites of Samsung affiliates.”

Its robots are currently deployed on production lines at Toyota’s North American plants, performing real-world manufacturing tasks, including heavy-load operations.
* RoboForce: A company offering a modular AI robotics platform and robot foundation model capable of performing heavy-load tasks across a wide range of industrial environments, from indoor facilities to rugged outdoor terrain.
