□ This year’s fourth Industry Day was attended by approximately 100 IT professionals from manufacturing companies in Chungcheong and Jeolla Provinces
□ Presented data platforms, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Operational Technology (OT) security, and private 5G network strategies for AX in the manufacturing sector
□ Introduced AI full-stack-driven business process innovation and real-world outcomes
On May 28th, Samsung SDS held ‘Samsung SDS Industry Day,’ a seminar for manufacturing companies based in Chungcheong and Jeolla Provinces (mid and southwestern regions of Korea) at LOTTE City Hotel Daejeon. The company presented AI Transformation (AX) strategies and innovation cases in the manufacturing industry.
The Industry Day event is an industry-specific seminar for clients in the public, financial, manufacturing, retail, and defense sectors. The event presents Samsung SDS’s core solutions, its service roadmap, and real-world deployment cases.
Starting with a public-sector seminar in March, Samsung SDS held seminars in April for clients in the manufacturing, retail, service, and financial sectors.
Held under the theme of ‘AX Accelerates the Future of the Manufacturing Industry,’ this seminar was attended by approximately 100 IT professionals from manufacturing companies based in Chungcheong and Jeolla Provinces. The seminar presented AX strategies and AI-driven business process innovation cases for manufacturing companies, as well as real-world business outcomes.
During his welcoming speech, Chang-hong Park, Vice President and Leader of the Manufacturing AM Team at Samsung SDS, said, “Companies are looking beyond simply adopting AI, paying attention to results achievable by applying AI to their actual business operations. We are actively supporting our clients’ successful AX through our AI full-stack strategy.”
Samsung SDS is strengthening efforts to expand its presence in the corporate AX market by leveraging its full-stack strategy, encompassing everything from its own AI infrastructure, platforms, and solutions to end-to-end services ranging from consulting to implementation and operations. Through this approach, Samsung SDS plans to move beyond the mere adoption of technology and support actual business process innovation and business outcomes.
During the presentations that followed, the company presented diverse AX innovation cases in the manufacturing industry: a data platform for manufacturing AX; a One ERP implementation case for Harim Group; a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) innovation strategy leveraging AI; a manufacturing OT security strategy against ransomware; the application of a private 5G network for enabling physical AI; and methods for utilizing Brity Works, a generative AI-based collaboration solution.
Notably, topics that gained significant attention from participants included OT security strategies tailored to manufacturing environments, where production downtime can lead to significant losses, and the use of a private 5G network, essential for expanding physical AI within factories.
A wide range of robots, including Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), are utilized across manufacturing sites in Korea. By integrating AI into these robots, it is possible to create a physical AI environment where a single complex command enables integrated control over robots and processes.
Samsung SDS showcased a private 5G network implementation that supports real-time data transmission between robots and control systems.
Additionally, Samsung SDS presented a One ERP implementation seamlessly connecting 18 key affiliates of Harim Group. Samsung SDS also shared its implementation experience and achievements in standardizing the ERP system and enhancing operational efficiency based on Harim Group’s business structure, which integrates its entire business process from raw materials to distribution.
Jeong-heon Lee, Executive Vice President and Leader of the Strategic Marketing Office at Samsung SDS, said, “This seminar is meaningful in that it shared the direction for AX and real-world innovation cases for manufacturing companies in Chungcheong and Jeolla Provinces. We will continue to provide our clients with insights across various industries by leveraging our AI full-stack capabilities and industry-specific know-how.”
