XEED-LAB is created to empower the next entrepreneurs at Samsung SDS helping them spot emerging opportunities and develop their ideas into viable business.

HISTORY

In 2011, Samsung SDS first launched an employee business idea contest. Later, in 2016, this contest expanded further into an in-house startup incubator program and was given a new name, XEED-LAB. Over the years, more than 950 employees brought in brilliant new business ideas. Selected project teams have merged into relevant business division, established spin-off companies, or become an in-house venture for further growth.

Employees’ suggested future business ideas will go through a total of three screening processes. The best three to five ideas will be selected for prototyping, and will be merged into the relevant business division, establish spin-off companies, or become an in-house venture through executives’ evaluation.

Corporate venture is an in-house startup separately organized for project incubation. It enables rapid execution and performance generation. Spin-off is a program that supports selected projects which are able to establish an independent startup.

PROJECT

Since the launch, XEED-LAB has received more than 950 business proposals from in-house talents.
Among a pile of applications, we selected 18 projects and all of them successfully completed prototyping.
After a series of review process, we are proud to report that six projects became an in-house corporate venture;
two teams had been merged into relevant business divisions at SDS; two projects established spin-off companies.
