Samsung SDS Presents Solutions to Realize Digital Transformation

On September 9 and 10, Samsung SDS held an online event ‘REAL 2020’ to share company’s technical capabilities and various digital transformation (DT) application cases.

Even though the event was held online due to Covid-19, many showed keen interest towards digital transformation with more than 7,000 people pre-registering for ‘REAL 2020’.

The event kicked off on September 9 with the keynote speech of Dr. WP Hong, president and CEO of Samsung SDS, at the Sangam data center in Seoul, Korea. He introduced company’s cloud business based on 17 data centers located worldwide and its highest level of security management services.

By switching location to Global Control Center at Pangyo, a city located in south of Seoul, Dr. WP Hong emphasized that Samsung SDS is the best partner for realizing digital enterprise by explaining real-time monitoring of the logistics operation and the company’s preemptive responses to crisis situations through its integrated control system.

In the first session, Samsung SDS proposed DT methodology, taking the DT framework proposed last year at the ‘REAL 2019’ to the next level. This methodology supports entire digital transformation process from digital level diagnosis, strategy establishment to execution, and includes DT diagnosis tools (DRC/DMM) and consulting services.

Digital Readiness Check (DRC) analyzes the digital level of overall corporate management related to customer/market, strategy/leadership, technology/infrastructure, business operation and organization/employee competency.

Digital Maturity Model (DMM) that is specialized for each manufacturing, finance, chemical industry examines digital maturity of each business process such as development, procurement, manufacturing, marketing, sales and management support.

Based on the diagnosis results of DRC and DMM, Samsung SDS derives optimal improvement plans and conducts consulting to establish corporate’s DT master plan and implementation strategy.

At the ‘Enterprise of the Future’ session, executives and professionals of Samsung SDS introduced cases of innovating management systems like Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Supply Chain Management (SCM).

In the following ‘Workplace of the Future’ session, application cases of various solutions were presented including Brity RPA for AI-based automation, Brity Messenger/Meeting/Mail for contactless communication and collaboration, and Nexplant 3D eXcellence for design and engineering collaboration based on 3D technology.

On September 10, Samsung SDS continued its presentation on various industries’ digital transformation references based on AI, security, cloud and blockchain technologies.

Various use cases were shared in details including improving bank operation efficiency with Nexfinance AICR, advancing security control with automation technology, innovating digital finance through hybrid cloud, and managing distribution history based on blockchain with Cello Trust.
