+ Launches Nexplant 3D eXcellence that supports easy viewing and sharing of 3D model data with mobile devices
+ Cloud-based streaming to support contactless collaboration between design engineers, field engineers and partner companies
+ Expanding business application to manufacturing, high-tech facility, construction and engineering industries

Samsung SDS is leading manufacturing intelligence with Nexplant 3D eXcellence solution that supports easy sharing of 3D model data and contactless collaboration.

Expensive CAD (Computer Aided Design) software and high-performance computing power are typically required to render 3D models. Also, data format differs by the CAD products which results in low data compatibility. Moreover, the risk of data leakage makes it difficult to collaborate during the design stage or share data with the manufacturing and construction sites.

Nexplant 3D eXcellence solves industrial sites’ pain points by providing high compatibility of over 30 different 3D model data formats, transforming big data to lightweight data to quickly visualize data available on the web and mobile devices, and strengthening security with cloud-based streaming.

In fact, “A” construction company that used this Nexplant solution is now sharing 3D model data on cloud which enables effective collaboration between the client, construction site and partner companies. Even though overseas construction sites had poor network infrastructure, they were able to increase their work efficiency thanks to the solution being able to quickly visualize lightweight 3D model data on mobile devices. The solution reduces cost as well because the customers no longer need to install expensive CAD software.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, it is difficult for design engineers, field engineers and partner companies to gather in one place. The Design Meeting function of Nexplant 3D eXcellcence allows easy collaboration as the user can remotely review and verify model data in real-time and manage model change history as well.

For customer service, on-site (field) engineers can view the 3D Work Manual with mobile device to install products and perform maintenance. The engineers can also share videos with experts in the office to receive real-time AR Work Support. Thanks to the digital 3D Work Manual, companies no longer need to create real samples which leads to lower training costs.

Samsung SDS is currently providing its Nexplant 3D eXcellence solution to home appliance and semiconductor manufacturing sites, and construction and engineering sites. The company plans to further expand its business application to other industries such as automotive, shipbuilding and high-tech facility.

Jaecheol Lee, executive vice president and leader of Intelligent Factory Business Division of Samsung SDS, said, “Nexplant 3D eXcellence will lead customers’ digital transformation and Samsung SDS will actively drive intelligence in various industrial sites based on advanced technologies like AI and 3D.”
