[Press Release] Samsung SDS evolves with the Cello solution "SaaS" platform
- Presents the upgraded logistics/SCM services at Cello Tech Fair
- Provides the tested Cello solution as cloud-based, capable of creating an environment for IT infrastructure
- Looks to expand globally with logistics services using the latest IT
Samsung SDS has launched an upgraded version of Cello, its integrated logistics solution, as a cloud-based SaaS (Software as a Service) platform
as part of its efforts to expand globally.
Samsung SDS (CEO Yoosung Chung) unveiled its logistics and SCM (Supply Chain Management) services provided as SaaS in cloud-based
environments at the Cello Tech Fair 2016, held at Samsung SDS’s West Campus.
SaaS is software that allows customers to rent desired software as a service, instead of directly buying it. It has gained popularity in the IT industry
because of its many benefits, including the reduced burdens of infrastructure investment and management.
During the event, the company announced that it would provide Cello solutions as SaaS, which have been tested through business process
outsourcing (BPO) for leading domestic and international customers. In doing so, SDS is allowing its customers to use the Cello solutions more
easily and at more reasonable prices.
Using the Cello SaaS not only helps new customers in and outside Korea reduce the burden of initial investment in IT infrastructure, but it also
enables them to optimize logistics and shipping by applying big data analytics technology. It also keeps the customers reassured in using
the tested Cello solutions.
During the Cello Tech Fair 2016, Samsung SDS divided up the track into two themes, “Smart Logistics” and “Smart SCM,” to present its various
and advanced cloud-based logistics services.
The Cello loading optimization service helps users find the most efficient way to load merchandise in warehouses that best suits the needs of
their businesses.
The Cello virtual warehouse system helps overcome the time and space constraints by creating warehouses in actual situations based on 3-D
virtual reality.
The machine learning-based SCM SaaS analyzes sales risks and opportunities for customers based on future demand and the predictions
managed by customers by utilizing the customers’ sales traffic information
Since the Cello Agile Planning service allows users to experience an integrated solution across the whole area of SCM, from demand input to
implementation and thus to respond quickly to the rapidly changing business environment.
Wooyong Shin, Vice President of Samsung SDS’s SL Business Unit, said, “We expect various types of customers to experience our latest IT-based
logistics services more easily and more quickly when our Cello solutions are provided as SaaS.”
