Samsung Cloud Platform-Based Private 5G Service for Enterprise Customers

Private 5G Cloud is a Samsung Cloud Platform-based service that offers private 5G core and edge solutions to enterprise customers. By providing 5G core in a cloud environment for enterprises, service quality and availability are guaranteed. In addition, edge solution ensures that large sets of enterprise data are processed in real-time and confidential data remains secure.

    Private 5G Cloud offers both 5G core whose quality and reliability have been verified and cloud security policy. 5G specialists also provide 24/7 monitoring service to conduct system diagnosis on a regular basis and take prompt measures in times of failure, thereby ensuring stable service operations.

    Configuring a private 5G network in Samsung Cloud Platform ensures that initial upfront costs and operational fees are kept to a minimum. Users can not only configure a cloud-based private 5G network that is fast and secure but also increase capacity and run a flexible operation.

Service Architecture

Service Architecture – Private 5G on Samsung Cloud Platform
Zone Component Description
On-Site Device Four device types are supported: laptop, mobile phone, VR headset, and camera.
RAN (5G NR) Two Radio Access Network units receive wireless signals from the devices via 5G New Radio.
UPF / MEC Each RAN unit is paired with a User Plane Function and Multi-Access Edge Computing unit for local data processing.
Connection Dedicated Circuit The left UPF/MEC connects to Samsung Cloud Platform via a dedicated private circuit through Direct Connect.
IPsec Tunnel (Internet) The right UPF/MEC connects to Samsung Cloud Platform via the Internet using an IPsec Tunnel through VPN.
Samsung Cloud Platform Direct Connect Terminates the dedicated circuit connection from the on-site left UPF/MEC.
VPN Terminates the IPsec Tunnel connection from the on-site right UPF/MEC.
Firewall & Router Both Direct Connect and VPN connections converge at a Firewall and routing switch before entering the VPC.
VPC (Security Group) A Virtual Private Cloud contains a Security Group that hosts the Private 5G Core CP (Control Plane).

    1. Process and protect large sets of customer data in real-time by deploying UPF at customer site(Edge)
    2. Data routing, detect/report up/down link traffic, execute QoS

    1. Provide low latency service with MEC
    2. Support MEC standard(3GPP Rel.17)
    3. Manage applications in a Kubernetes environment
  • Seamless backbone service between the Samsung Cloud Platform and customer site
    1. Configure as a VPN or a dedicated line based on customer preference
