+ Introducing deep learning-based Nexplant VI and an “intelligent core manufacturing process” case
On November 8, Samsung SDS (CEO Won-pyo Hong, www.samsungsds.com) and its affiliate Miracom Inc. (CEO Hang-ki Cho) jointly held the Nextplant Conference 2018, where they announced their partnership in the customized intelligent factory platform business as part of their effort to build a stronger presence in the industry.
Miracom Inc.’s manufacturing solution (MESplus), developed based on the company's accumulated business know-how, was applied to Samsung SDS’ intelligent factory platform (NexplantTM), allowing various manufacturing customers to build intelligent factories.
At the conference, the two companies introduced Nexplant MESplus. The newly announced platform combines MESplus’ manufacturing execution, quality analysis, and manufacturing status / facility monitoring with Nexplant's automated internal material delivery system and facility failure prediction.
Nexplant MESplus standardizes seven key manufacturing functions – reference information; production; facilities; quality; tracking; departure from & arrival at warehouses; and system management – cutting 20% of the time required to build a manufacturing system with existing platforms.
Furthermore, the Nextplant VI (Visual Intelligence) solution was announced during the conference as well. The solution applies deep-learning technologies to inspections, more than doubling the accuracy of detecting and categorizing defects versus visual inspection.
Nexplant VI automates the time-consuming process of identifying defected images and re-inspecting the remaining items, cutting up to 25% of the time required with manual inspection.
At the conference, the two companies also presented an “intelligent core manufacturing process” case that analyzes bigdata related to manufacturing processes to identify core processes and applies deep-learning technologies to improve yield rate.
“With the aim of reinforcing our global competitiveness, Samsung SDS and Miracom Inc. will deploy Nexplant to build an intelligent system throughout the whole manufacturing process,” emphasized Samsung SDS Senior Vice President and Smart Factory Business Division Leader, Jae-cheol Lee.
“We will provide one-stop solutions and services, ranging from consulting to technology support, to satisfy our customers’ needs,” said Miracom Inc. CEO, Hang-ki Cho.
